Return to Pizza Hut, Crawling Things, Antennas, and Outreach to San Antonio
Hola and Feliz Navidad
Here we are to Christmas Week already. It almost seems unreal out here in the desert although all the things are going on that are going on back in Nova Scotia expect probably all the shopping.
We are baking Christmas goodies and putting up decorations and preparing the children for the Christmas Concert
More about that next page as we ran out of room for pictures. We were able last night to get a lot of pictures of the rehearsal and the little lambs looked so cute with there headdresses made of t shirts, you have to be really inventive here and it is good some people are as I certainly am not.
We had a true Bear Went Over the Mountain experience yesterday as we had an outreach on the other side of the mountains from here and to go 25 miles we had to drive 100 each way. It was a long day and we were all very tired at the end of it as the beatings you take on the roads make you feel 100 years old some time but the results are worth it. To see the looks of awe on the children's faces as they hear the music and learn to sing the songs and hear the stories and receive their gifts is worth every minute of the preparation and travel. Larry and I don't do nearly the work that is done by the missionaries but the joy and smiles on their faces are as wonderful to see as on the childrens.
After we finished the lady who hosted us served everyone with Tamiles (this is probably spelled wrong as we forgot our Spanish Dictionaries home) which can be a mixture of mashed beans or one with beans and meat and spices and they are served to you hot rolled up in corn husks and tied on each end. Really delicious and a lot of work for her. The people here are so gracious and kind to us.
We are just beginning to realize the distances travelled by the missionaries each week as we are getting to see more of the villages this year
Last week we went to Las Minitas which was a 1 1/2 hour drive the last 20 miles over what we at home would look at as a poor lumber road and straight up into the mountains and Jorge drives that every Sunday night up and back twice to bring people in to the service and Dan drives every week for a bible study and of course this week to San Antonio which Dan drives every week to do a bible study, the road is not as bad but it takes him six hours there and back and these are only 2 of the 11 villages that are served.
A very Merry and Blessed Christmas to you all,
We miss you and love you
Serving Him in Sonora, Mexico
