Return to A Glimpse of Alamos - Christmas Arrives

HAPPY 2004 TO ALL OUR FRIENDS

We, like you, are all trying to wind down from the busyness of family get togethers, large meals, and everything else that has to do with the holiday season

Dan and Ana left on New Year's Day for the missionary conference in California and Mike Gaudé ( the radio guy )got back from Temoris up in the mountains on the 29th and left for California on the 30th for the same conference. He will be going back up there the end of January to help the pastor there who has adult onset epilepsy, a wife who is expecting their 5th child and ministers to a flock of about 30 in a very evil pot growing area where it is not even safe for us to take our vehicle. The minister also does a bible study in another village in the area. Both Larry and I would like to go there especially as Mike who is a batchelor is going to be looking after the children and the ministry during the time the new baby is born and I am sure that we could be of some help but so far we are just told it is too dangerous to go. This pastor survives on $100.00 US a month and is working alone in the area spreading the Gospel so Larry and I feel that quite a bit of the money that was donated to us will go with Mike for the support of this Godly man.

The children's Christmas presents just came the other day a week after Christmas and were donated this year by a church in Rochester New York and brought down by a family who have come down for a few weeks and brought their three children with them so they can see what it is like to live in a 3rd world country.

We are just beginning, I think, as we get to know the girls better to realize that because of the background of these children (mostly abused, street children, or coming from very poor and immoral homes) that the simplest of things like honesty and moral behaviour is something that has to be taught because they copy what they see and what they have seen and experienced in their short lives is more than most of us will ever know and unless these children accept Jesus into their hearts and He changes those hearts they do not have a chance in life. Sorry to say that there are more children in this world in this condition than we want to think of. But of course the same goes for adults including our friends and neighbours in Canada and the US who have not given their hearts to Jesus.

Maybe we should all just try a little harder in our witnessing (Step Out Of Our Comfort Zone, Hey Rollie?) and do just a bit more witnessing than we do. After all you all know what the alternative is.

Well I guess I have preached my sermon for this week so I must go and let Larry get the rest of His pictures finished.

Again A Happy and Blessed New Year To You All

Serving Him in Sonora, Mexico
