Return to Alamos - Shirley's New Job - Open Wide

Hello to everyone who looks at our site. We appreciate it and your comments.

We are now into the 1st week of February and before we know it March 17th will be here and we will be heading for home.

As you can see by the pictures I have collected a lot of typing students along the way and it is like teaching kindergarden to grade 12. We have downloaded a freeware program very similar to Microsoft Office and we will be writing some lessons and starting the ones who are ready on wordprocessing before we leave with some prepared lessons to work on while we are gone. If these children can leave the ranch with typing skills and office skills and bilingual they will have such a chance in this country to get good jobs and not end up digging ditches or cleaning houses for a living. We are so thankful that God has given Larry and I between us the ability to make this come true if the children want to work. I am sure some of the adults will also be using the wordprocessing lessons as many have never had any computer training

I have had a great time baking here, in fact Beth is threatening me if I bring any more cakes to here house. She has caught me out, I love to bake but don't want to have much in my house for I eat it and I don't want to put on the weight I have lost here.

Our truck has been a great blessing as the vehicles on the ranch are so old and break down so often that Larry is continually boosting them or towing them. Not a Sunday goes by, and we are a bus ministry that brings people from the villages for Sunday night services and travel to 12 villages with the gospel each week, that one or more vehicles break down. Last night we ended up at almost 10:00 towing Dan's truck back from church, we transferred all the little girls that were in the back into our truck and then put on a tow strap and towed the other truck home. It looks like within the next few months that God is going to provide 2 new (secondhand) vans and a a couple of small schoolbusses but we never know until they are actually on the ranch. Please pray for these as some of ours are at the point of dangerous driving and very expensive repairs.

I must close for now for it is 1:00 and I have classes at 2:00 and Bible Study at 3:00 and the afternoon will be gone.
May God Bless You All,

Serving Him in Sonora, Mexico

Larry and Shirley
