On to Mezquital...
Matias puts the plate on the switch at Mezquital. I asked Matias if we could go to Mezquital early to do the electrical work there. The electrical was much the same as for Neuvo Amanecer, except only three lights. This is the first non 12 volt lighting system in this village, as far as I know. It was hard to get a shot of Matias that day without the wonderful smile that he has here. Next...
The Last Bulb is Put in
This is again Matias putting in the last light bulb in this installation at Mezquital. I got teased the whole time that I was working on this project as I could not remember how high this structure was and brought along a ladder. As can be seen here, it really was not needed. These brothers seem to attract children whenever they go out to this village. Across the street, I think that building must be the movie theatre....
As soon as God Put out the Lights..
We set up a video to show on the side of the home as soon as it began to get dark. The chairs were set up, the children gathered, and the video began. The adults soon started to arrive and packed the place, with standing room only at times. The video that night was an old Bill Graham from the 70's, I think. I didn't know Billy could speak Spanish that well, but on this night he did so without accent or error. His voice must have changed since then as it did not sound a bit like he does today!! I wonder why?? A bit of backtracking...
The Helpers at Mezquital...
This photo was taken earlier as we had some time to spare between the work and the video, we enjoyed the children. Here they all lined up the back of the truck for this group shot. From left to right they are, starting with the back row, Niņo Uno, Niņo Dos, Niņo Tres, Niņa Uno, etc.
