Shirley Having Lunch With a Student..
In this photo Shirley and Edith are just having lunch at Edith's. I wonder who the empty plate belongs to? Shirley goes to Edith's house on Friday nights when I go to Mezquital and is training Edith on her new computer. Edith just got her computer and has several friends that she now sends email to as well as her son, his wife and children in Switzerland. She learns a bit more each week and is very pleased to have Shirley teach her what she needs to know to use her computer. She is the lady who, last year, donated the flag that we later presented to New Life Church in Yarmouth.

Shirley's Student from Rancho Maranatha
This is Marilu (Maria Luisa) from Rancho Maranatha, who takes the bus two mornings a week into Alamos to be taught how to use some office programs on the computer. Shirley has her here for two to three hours in the morning and then we have lunch together and take her back to catch her bus back to the ranch. She learns very fast, so has caught Shirley and I a bit unprepared for her fast pace, but we are keeping up with her and now are formulating a course for her.

Then There's Always Sorting
This is typical of every year as we prepare for the outreaches. This year we have two, so things had to be sorted into three groups, one for each outreach and one for us to distribute as we see the needs. This is Shirley with the socks, but then there is....

Mittens, Tuques, and Dolls..
This is Shirley with the dolls. We somehow have missed doing pictures of us both working on the gift bags, we have prepared 400 so far. At this time we have not had our first outreach, but it is coming in two days. We have a total of twelve totes and garbage bags to take with each outreach, containing the gift bags, clothing, shoes, hand knit items, etc. Shirley has done much of the sorting of all these things. This is part of the reason that we have not had time to update this page as we have both been very busy preparing for the next two weeks.
